Heuristic Evaluation

This project milestone involved undergoing a heuristic evaluation of our med-fi prototype. Members from another project group navigated through our Figma prototype without any guidance from us. While interacting with our prototype, they made note of anything that violated one of the 10 usability heuristics and the severity of the violation. Afterward, we received their feedback and used it to make revisions to our med-fi prototype in order to create our final hi-fi prototype (see P4). Here is a link to the heuristic evaluation that was completed for our group. Additionally, we completed a heuristic evaluation for another team. Here is a link to our heuristic evaluation of DBAce. Below is a summary of some of the key takeaways from the heuristic evaluation we received.

Overview of Heuristic Evaluation Feedback

  1. User Control and Freedom

    • Users should have more freedom over their navigation throughout the app; the addition of more back arrows would increase the ease at which they can get back to a previous screen without having to start over at the bottom navigation bar.

  2. Help and Documentation

    • The app supports a lot of features and users need an overview of the functionality of the app to learn how to access and use the various features.

  3. Error Prevention

    • When a user "cancels" when forming a group or making a new post, there should be an additional confirmation that they want to cancel in case they accidentally press the button.

  4. Consistency and Standards

    • The app lacks a consistent design scheme, which makes the overall navigation of the app less intuitive and less enjoyable.

    • The "Home" page has a play button icon, which is inconsistent given that there are no videos posted on the Home page.
